Kasier was starting to realize that the drinking was doing little to ease his sorrow. He tried to continue to shirk his duties, looking for excuses to hide.  It was not fair at all, he thought, that with a single message, everything that he had known could have been ripped away from him.  He tightened his grip around his mug, as if to reassure himself that there were some things that he could indeed still grasp with his two hands.
